PGJDC to facilitate jewellery sector in Korangi

KARACHI: Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) will facilitate the development of a 10.8-acre manufacturing cluster for gems and jewellery entrepreneurs in Korangi Creek Industrial Park, which is being developed by National Industrial Parks.

In this regard PGJDC arranged a presentation by National Industrial Parks at its head office for stakeholders of Gems and Jewellery Sector.

The presentation was attended by a large number of gems and jewellery sector’s stakeholders such as jewellery manufacturers, gold refiners and, gems dealers and processors, who took keen interest in this project and expressed their maximum support for this initiative that would bring revolutionary change in this sector.

This modern industrial park would have all basic facilities like security, reliable water and power supply, natural environment, supporting services, telecommunication facilities and accessibility etc. Gems and jewellery cluster would have effluent treatment plant, 48 megawatt power plant to ensure the uninterrupted power supply and all supporting services and amenities for the members. The proposed gems and jewellery units would consist of gem processing units, jewellery manufacturing, assaying and hallmarking, gem laboratories, training centers, gem labs and gem exchanges etc. staff report
